Noteworthy Nugget #04

Eleanor Roosevelt said it best. “Remember, no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”

With all the turmoil and uncertainties surrounding COVID-19, it is easy to fall into an inferior mindset. Specifically, single parents carry most of the weight by balancing their roles of serving as a mother and a father.

Single parents, it is important to stay encouraged and pay close attention to the signs of feeling inadequate:

  1. Negative self-talk
  2. Powerlessness
  3. Low self-worth
  4. Incompetentcy
  5. Shamefulness

When one has feelings of inadequateness then try one or all of the following:

  1. Upgrade ones skills to meet the demands of the “post COVID-19” workforce.
  2. Modify and manage the household schedule to meet daily needs and demands.
  3. Ensure the health and safety of the children.
  4. Monitor and care for ones own mental and personal health.
  5. Seek professional help, if necessary.

Children are observant and are like sponges. They soak up the values we display and the response to change. No matter how big or small the situation, a child observes how a parent responds. Let them see how to overcome a crisis by empowering and surpassing levels of inferiority.

Remember, no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
-Matthew 24:14

Be sure your future leader partakes in regular readings and the understanding of the Word.

Implement daily bible lessons to increase their faith and believe in something/someone greater than themselves. One example could be to challenge your child to learn the 10 commandments. They can begin to practice the ways to love God and their neighbor, one commandment per week.

Arm them with what they need to make it in this world.

Here is a link that gives an overview of a bible App for you to share with your child(ren). Help them get interested and grow in the Word.
