A Lavender Place is a proud single parent of an 11 year old boy who is the inspiration for her blog. Her hope is to provide a platform to support single parents on their journey through parenthood. She has an MA in Organizational Management. Presently, she is working on her second master's degree and teaching 6th grade math in one of Georgia's largest school systems. She enjoys spending time with family, reading, collecting books of all genres, researching new ways to make math engaging and meaningful, making new vegan recipes, exercising, traveling and learning new things. She prides herself on being a life-long learner.
I am so grateful for reaching this milestone – 100 followers. The use of this platform continues to be a big part of my life’s journey. Your “likes”, “comments”, “ideas”, and “stories” keep me going.
The days are tough and long, but I hope my blog inspires single parents to keep keeping on. Others have done it and so can we!!
RING!!!! The alarm goes off and scares you to oblivion. You shove the clock to the other side of the night stand and it falls to the floor. At that moment, you realized it was going to be one of “those” days!
You overslept and are unable to satisfy the morning routine of meditation and prayer; there’s no time to blend the protein, vitamin packed smoothie and make lunches for the day.
The process of waking up the kids is a task, getting them dressed and searching for the tie to complete the school uniform seems endless. Finally, you manage to get everything done and it’s time to walk out of the door.
But wait! You hear a small voice. That voice says, “mommy, I need to use the bathroom.” As you lean against the wall attempting to hold it together, your heart sinks to the pit of your stomach. You drop everything – cell phone, smoothie cup, purse, laptop bag, and lunch. Nooooooo….
That is when you take a moment and TAPP it out!
Take a deep breath
Acknowledge the issue
Put things into perspective
Pray for strength and guidance
Parenthood is one of the most rewarding roles to have. However, we must be honest and recognize it can be one of the most exhausting. I encourage you to find something you enjoy doing to help maintain balance – read a good book, workout, start a blog, take a vacation or try a new class. Learning something new is a good way to boost one’s self confidence.
Share something new you have tried to help maintain balance in your life. I look forward to hearing your responses.

At this event, I had the pleasure of listening to interviews of 2 amazing book authors – Stacey Abrams and Bill Curry.
Stacey Abrams
Stacey, an American politician, lawyer and author served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 2007 to 2017, and served as minority leader from 2011 to 2017 (Wikepedia 2019). Her intelligence, compassion and self motivation exudes in drive to represent the disenfranchised. It was truly an honor to have her sign my copy of her latest book – Lead from the outside – How to build your future and make real change.
Bill, a retired American football coach and former player, spends his time giving inspirational and motivational speaches about the positive impact and life lessons learned while playing the game of football. All of which are highlighted in his latest book, “Ten Men You Meet in the Huddle – Lessons Learned from a Football Life.
