A Sunday Morning

Early morning, quiet moments allow me to gather my thoughts, meditate and pray.

The chirping and tweeting of birds calmly warm my soul.

I hear a swift, gust of wind blowing debris from one side of the street to the other.

I see the morning light attempt to peak through the blinds.

I sink into the warm, left-side of my bed and appreciate the comfort of my weighted blanket.

I am reminded that the right-side of the bed is available, empty, and cold.

And, then, reality sets in – I am alone, I have been alone, and I slept alone.

A Single Parents’ Valentine’s Day ðŸ’œ

With February 14th around the corner, we know that single parents have to be creative to enjoy Valentine’s Day.  It may require you to delay it for a more convenient time, celebrate alone, include your children or not celebrate at all. A single parent’s reality is our children come first; therefore the timely celebration may become untimely.  The feeling of wanting to be loved, appreciated, prioritized, and celebrated by someone with flowers, chocolates, a spa day, dinner and a movie, a piece of expensive jewelry, or just a simple meal prepared to our liking seems out of reach.

Instead, turn Valentine’s Day into a day where you show love towards your children. Transfer that energy to your children. Take them to their favorite restaurant, watch a movie, go to an ice-cream parlor, or make their favorite dinner/dessert. No matter what you do, make sure it’s genuine and with a smile. Your kids will enjoy and appreciate the fun memories you’ve created for them.

Stay in the moment and enjoy every minute. Your season is around the corner.

Stay Your Course

Sometimes our world seems unfair, broken, lonely, selfish, discouraging, challenging, and unbalanced. We are in this world, but remember it’s a choice to be of this world. Stay your course, continue to be productive and give thanks daily. Give thanks in advance because what’s needed to elevate you will be revealed when you least expect it – in the middle of the night, at the farmer’s market, or at the gym. Life has a way of working things out to your benefit. Be productive and watch the stars align in your favor.

Many blessings in 2023
